Uptown Moxy Rendering.jpg

The revitalization of Downtown Oakland retail began with the restoration of the Fox Theater in 2009 and over the last decade we’ve witnessed a complete transformation of the area we’ve come to know as Uptown. Oakland’s retail market has consistently trended higher over the last several years, but we expect the residential pipeline coming online to be a huge boon for retailers and their investors. With thousands of new residents being added to the market, businesses will see extended hours and higher volume.

The style of the Moxy Hotel truly captures what the residential high rises are trying to attract. A focus on rich, vibrant public space with smaller efficient room design will work well in the city with the lowest median age in the Bay Area. A fantastic site selection puts the hotel one block from BART and at the heart of Oakland’s KONO district known for its art, music and entertainment. 20,000 people visit the First Friday Festival every month to experience the unique food, live entertainment, and the Art Murmur Gallery Walk. This area will enjoy a great dynamic mix of local and national retailers as thousands of new residents and workers come into the marketplace, each bringing their own energy and diversity.

Even with all of the new investment coming into Oakland, the hospitality market has been anemic. We are thrilled that is about to change and LCB would love to have our fingerprints on a project that would truly represent the progression of Downtown Oakland.
